GWO CoHE Training Standard (Draft)V0

GWO CoHE Training Standard V0

Emphasise that the required elements in a pre-task briefing (Job briefing / toolbox talk) for electrical work can vary between companies and that participants must always follow and seek out company specific rules for a pre-task briefing (toolbox talk) prior to working on electrical systems. Explain and demonstrate how a pre-task briefing (toolbox talk) can be performed prior to working on electrical systems. The elements to cover with a pre-task briefing (toolbox talk):

a. Hazards involved.

b. Work procedures.

c. Work area (Identify the boundaries of the work area and prove that the work area is safe).

d. Special precautions (specific non-standard precautions to be able to perform the task i.e., precautions that are not always required).

e. Energy source controls (isolation points and how to isolate the energy source).

f.

Emergency response.

g. PPE requirements.

h. Other works related.

Ask the participants involving questions about the pre-task briefing e.g.,:

What were the elements of the pre-task briefing?

Can the participants restate or summarize the elements in their own words?

Why were these elements performed in the pre-task briefing?

How does this pre-task briefing relate to what the participants have already seen?

What to do when something changes? (A pre-task briefing must be done anytime changes occur or the scope of the work changes).

The participants shall:

Engage in answering the questions and share understandings about how to do a pre-task briefing for electrical work.

The instructor shall

Give constructive feedback to the participants’ answers about how a pre-task briefing is to be done.

ELEMENT 4.13 - CABINETS ENCLOSURES

Learning objectives:

Participants can discuss the reasons for keeping electrical cabinets closed, how to mitigate that electrical cabinets are left open and what to do in situations with open electrical cabinets (Knowledge, intermediate level).
