The participants can explain examples of what to do when encountering deranged equipment (Knowledge, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Lead a brainstorm with the participants about how to identify deranged equipment:
Look
Smell
Temperature / heat
Fire
Sparks
Sound (listening)
The participants shall:
Engage in the brainstorm about how to identify deranged equipment.
The instructor shall:
Facilitate group discussions about why deranged equipment (any electrical equipment that is suspected to be damaged) increase the risk of injury related to working around electricity. Present examples of deranged equipment and non-deranged equipment and create exercise(s), where, based on the examples, the participants must practise:
How to distinguish deranged equipment from non-deranged equipment and
Decide what to do when encountering deranged equipment e.g.
i. Seeking company specific procedures and equipment specific procedures. Extra safety precautions that the participants will need to take will depend on company specific procedures and rules.
ii.
Do not use
send for repair (signage).
iii.
Report the deranged equipment.
iv.
Quarantine the deranged equipment.
The participants shall:
Engage in the group discussions and share understandings about why deranged equipment increase the risk of injury related to working around electricity.
Engage in the exercise(s) and practise:
a. How to distinguish deranged equipment from non-deranged equipment.
b. What to do when encountering deranged equipment.
