Junior Alleynian 2016

LEAVERS

time for a good chat with our friends. The zip wire was probably one of the best things ever, and when I was zooming down its long and silver wires I felt like the king of the sky. I was completely scared of heights before I went to PGL but they made me do things that would require me to get rid of my fear. When we went to do our outdoor climbing activity I had climbed more than half way up the board and then happily jumped down safely. What a great, memorable week it was! Khizar Hassan The teachers that have taught me in Years 3,4, 5 and 6 were Mr Goodrich, Mr Broughton, Mr Matthews and Mrs Cooper – they have all helped me enormously to progress with my learning, but they have also told me off when I needed putting in my place! All the teachers within the Junior School have encouraged me to keep learning and persevere even when things are tricky. My fondest memories were when we made both the Aztec Temples and the World War II shelters. I have participated in many fixtures within the Junior School and will always remember when I received a distinction in my grade one piano exam. The numerous trips I have been on, whether it be Osmington Bay, Wales, Hampton Court or Kew Gardens, have been inspiring and helped me devlop important skills and knowledge. I have many vivid memories and funny moments from the past four years, but my best have been sharing a dorm with Hector Senior and Max Constantinou and my other friends. All my friends have made me laugh continuously and they make me feel better every time I am down. All in all, I have had the most amazing time in the Junior School… I wish I could do it all over again! Will Thariyan To end four amazing years at DC Junior School, Year 6 travelled to PGL in Osmington Bay in Dorset for a week of action packed adventure. Throughout the week we climbed Jacob’s Ladder, went rock pooling, ate mint choc chip ice creams at Durdle Door, learnt to fence and even managed to sink a raft (don’t ask!) but best of all was the ZIPWIRE! I climbed the 15 steps to the top of the wooden tower. Our instructor clipped me onto the rope, put my feet over the edge and let go…. I put my arms out as if I was flying and tried to run in the air! You could see all the way out to sea even though dark, gloomy clouds surrounded me. I reached the other side, started to unclip

and lowered myself down. I couldn’t wait for my go again. Flying is the best! Thank you to all the teachers, especially Mr Oubridge for taking us to PGL for an amazing week. Charlie Cook Being in Dulwich College Junior School has been an immense learning experience and my greatest adventure so far. From the moment I started in Year 4 and as I leave to join Year 7, I’ve enjoyed all the activities and embraced all that the school has had to offer. I’ve entered a triathlon, learnt the viola, investigated slime, sung songs about lab safety and entered lots of House competitions to try and make sure Jonson didn’t come last again! That’s what makes DCJS the best thing ever. SamMorrissey The thing I favoured most out of the many amazing things from Year 6 was the PGL trip because it was an amazing experience being with all my friends the whole way. It was also intriguing to see howwe would behave when we’re living all together. But the highlight had to be participating in awesome activities with my friends, which was just so much fun; even when you’re scared of the heights or can’t get back on the boat in raft building, my friends would always be there to help.
