LEAVERS

The best bit of PGL was Thursday afternoon and evening: After playing on the sand football and volleyball pitch called Little Wembley, my group, group three (The Milkman) went to our second PGL TV lesson. In the first lesson we had used a program called audacity to put different bits of music together to create one minute music pieces without singing. We split into groups of four and filmed a one minute clip. My group did three men controlling a body. We then used another site to put the video and song together. The raft building was though the best event of the week. We put buoyancy aids on and then went to work on creating a barrel by three by two. We put out six pieces of rope and rolled the barrels over them. We tied the ropes around the barrels and then put metal poles on the sides to keep the barrels tight. We then went into the water. It went well at first but the end two barrels slipped off the pole and fell into the water making it a two by two raft. Over the next five minutes everyone fell off. Some people clambered back on but were already drenched. After that we basically got out only to be pushed back in by the instructor or clambered back on the raft. All in all it was amazing! Hector Senior As we reached Osmington Bay I couldn’t stop looking out the window of our coach, the viewwas phenomenal, just phenomenal. Every time I left my room I would always have a moment where I just wouldn’t stop looking at the sea, I peered as far as the eye could see. My favourite activity by far was the raft building that my group did on the Thursday of our trip. Despite initially feeling a bit worried, my nerves soon disappeared as we built our raft and then got to race them. It did all end in disaster with most groups taking a plunge in the cold water much sooner than anticipated. It was a memorable moment of a very special week. Philip Grammatikopoulos I loved PGL because it tested my abilities and I had to conquer my fears to complete some of the challenges that were presented to us. My favourite activity was probably raft building because it challenged us to work in a team and it tested our abilities to do knots and the best format to build a good raft. It was also very funny because no-one could grip onto the barrels so we kept on falling in. My second best activity was climbing/abseiling as it tested our abilities to work out a good route to climb because some routes were very hard to climb (even for me) but I did manage to do it in the end. Overall I think the PGL team did a very good job of entertaining us and getting us involved. It was by far the best trip I have ever done. JoshuaMendel One of my most memorable moments in the Junior School was when I was rewarded for my role as a hard working librarian. We visited Heaths Educational Books Wholesalers to buy some new books for the library. We went inside and saw a forest of books and went exploring like Indiana Jones and found a decent collection of interesting books that were not in the Jumior School library. I found this amazing book about three children in New York in the 70s and it was about boxing and their fight to win. I also found a great series about a boy in space and how he goes to this amazing school in space where he becomes an astronaut. My role as a librarian certainly was well worth it! Hassan Khan My favourite part of the Osmington Bay trip were the more challenging activities such as terror-inducing abseiling and the spine-tingling zip wiring. There was also “Jacob’s Ladder”, the only activity which required a bit of inspection first; you had to climb up wooden bars that steadily increased in height and once you got going, you had to think quickly on your feet and have fast reflexes

as you started the ascent. And what a stimulating place too! The vast deep blue sea with its tang of salt carried on the fresh breeze, the gruff roar of cars passing you and the WHOOSH of the football hitting the net and the CHEER of your friends laughing and smiling. At the end of this trip I learned a couple things like how to overcome my fear of heights and how spending time away from family was good for my self-confidence. Charlie Edwards
