Board of Trustees meeting Agenda | July 2019

Academic Advising: The 2019–2020 academic year will be busy with continual improvements to key areas for student retention, namely student advising. The Academic Advising Council, a joint Faculty Senate and Provost committee, is continuing their work during summer to draft a comprehensive set of recommendations to improve the students’ experience with advising. The proposed recommendations will be vetted by campus in fall, followed by implementation efforts throughout the academic year. We are excited about the new opportunities afforded to students in the coming academic year. Changes to our General Education program and improvements in Academic Advising will pair well with proposed improvements to other areas of student life on campus. It is our hope that the efforts of all divisions around campus will combine to affect retention and re-recruitment in a positive manner. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Board for your continued commitment to meetings with faculty. Your time and attention to all aspect of this campus and university life are seen in a very positive light and we look forward to future opportunities to connect as we all work towards our common, student-centered goals. Conclusion

Respectfully Submitted,

Walter Szeliga Faculty Senate Chair (2019–2020)
