been the private graveyard for a local family before it fell into disuse and that there may be several bodies interred there. The township is going through the process for official declaration of the property as “an abandoned cemetery” as part of the first step in protecting it as a local heritage site. Administration has contacted the current property owners who have indicated they are willing to sell the portion of land where the cemetery is located to the municipality. A survey of the area is necessary to determine the exact size of the cemetery. The township also has to follow provincial and federal regulations concerning grave sites and research the history of the Pitch Off Cemetery to determine whether any person of provincial or national significance or a veteran are buried on the site. 8IFO BMM UIF MFHBM SFRVJSFNFOUT BSF met then the township can go ahead with negotiating purchase of the land, have the site declared an abandoned cemetery, and then budget funds for clearing the grounds and erecting a protective fence. The organization will soon open its doors on the Route du Canton. Its mandate will be to meet the needs of the entire Argenteuil Regional County Municipalities (RCM). Certain municipalities in Argenteuil are currently bound by contracts with private animal control service providers. The Argen- teuil SPCA plans to work for the RCM’s nine municipalities. It will offer a full range of services, including community services and public awareness. The new SPCA will be located at 207 Route du Canton in Brownsburg-Chatham. The Argenteuil SPCA will therefore be the entity that officially deals with stray pets as well as any other situation involving pets that

The little cemetery is located on a piece of farmland property on Pitch Off Road in Plantagenet and is in an almost-abandoned state with no recent interments for a number of years. A gravestone on the site indicates that someone named “Marchand from Montréal” is buried there. Councillor René Beaulne noted that the tiny cemetery may have once Alfred-Plantagenet Township council has given approval for plans aimed at preserving the old Pitch Off Cemetery property as a local heritage site.

Next year’s budget plan for the counties gets one last revision but it won’t change the proposed tax increase. “It remains at one per cent,” said Valérie Parisien, finance director for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR). Parisien presented the eight mayors on UCPR council with the final revisions of the 2021 budget during UIFJS/PWFNCFSDPNNJUUFFPG UIF whole session. The main revision is a change to the amount of money transferred from the working reserve fund from $50,000 to $140,000. The extra $90,000 goes towards professional fees dealing with implementation of new software for UCPR planning and administration departments.
