The Jamaican Contingent at the CARIFTA Games 2022 which was held in Jamaica from April 15 to 18, 2022.

The virtual race was truly global as alumni, honorary graduates and friends of all age groups from across the world participated in the event, including: Switzerland, Australia, Hong Kong, England, Ireland, Canada, the United States,Barbados, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada,and Ghana.

The event was held under the patronage of Dr. the Honourable Douglas Orane, CD; Dr. Thalia Lyn, OD; and Dr. Donette Chin-Loy Chang, with the Caribbean Broilers (CB) Group as the Title Sponsor for the 10th consecutive year. The Smart Eggs Kids K is the only road race in Jamaica dedicated solely to children and allows them to compete with their peers with the opportunity to win trophies, medals and prizes.The virtual race was truly global as alumni, honorary graduates and friends of all age groups from across the world

participated in the event, including: Switzerland, Australia, Hong Kong, England, Ireland, Canada, the United States, Barbados, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and Ghana. Each year, the Campus uses the opportunity to honour someone who has contributed significantly to sports on the world stage. It was the University’s distinct pleasure to honour Mr. Hansle Parchment, World Olympic 110 metre Champion Hurdler, for his numerous and outstanding achievements.

Income Generating Activities The Estate Management Department continues to identify income generating opportunities and has initiated the following ventures: i. The rental of the mobile air conditioning units and generators to external parties; ii. The provision of janitorial and gardening services to select Faculties and Halls of Residence; iii. As the Campus moves to a full face-to-face operation, the Work Control Centre has increased its event management services to stakeholders who are hosting events on the Campus. The Department continues to utilise economies of scope and scale in its operations, and will continue to identify opportunities to maximise revenues to the Campus. Twenty-Five academic scholarships were awarded to students in dire financial need. They continue to express their profound appreciation for the opportunities afforded them as a result of this event. The FST Resource Mobilisation Unit T he Resource Mobilisation Unit (RMU) in the Faculty of Science and Technology, negotiates internal UWI processes for establishing grant agreements and provides oversight for projects, which allows principal investigators greater flexibility in executing research tasks. Through the efforts of the Unit, partnerships have been maintained and new partnerships forged with government ministries, private sector entities, external grant agencies, and alumni. The Unit oversaw the establishment of the Enith & Victor Bradley and ICENS Scholarship Fund – a value of Four Thousand pounds (£4,000) – and provided strategic oversight of the Faculty’s Endowment Fund that has been steadily growing .
