Communication Technology’s (ICT’s) accessibility for primary school students within the Western Kingston region, Jamaica. Approximately 70 tablets were purchased for these students. George Alleyne Hall – Green Day The George Alleyne Hall Domestic Affair Committee staged a Green Day initiative during the reporting period. The initiative was executed after a survey was

done among the student population, the results of which revealed the need for more ‘home-grown’ fresh vegetables on the Campus. The students planted a vegetable garden consisting of peppers, pak choi, tomatoes and more. The vegetable garden will be maintained by the members of the Domestic Affairs Committee and will act as a source of income for the Hall Committee.

Basic School Improvement (Western Jamaica Campus)

A virtual seminar titled: “Big or Small…Save them All” was hosted on October 17, 2022. Students from the Mona and Mona-Western Jamaica Campuses, members of the Calvary Baptist Church Women’s Fellowship, and Misty Blue Foundation, were in attendance. The seminar presenters were Ms. Dorothy Satchwell and Ms. Vancelee Spencer from the Misty Blue Foundation. The monies raised from the cake sale were donated to Ms. Myra Facey who is currently battling breast cancer. Her daughter, Ms. Shamar Dunkley collected on her behalf. Maxfield Park Children’s Home The External Affairs Committee and the Domestic Affairs Committee of the Halls of Residence carried out a food drive on the Hall during October 15 to November 5, 2021. The students were able to package two boxes of non-perishable goods and toiletries which were donated to the Maxfield Park Children’s Home.

The Hall of Residence, UWI Mona WJC, One Life, and the Mona Social Services conducted a service project on May 20, 2022. Six (6) students and the Student Services and Development Manager assisted parents to paint playground equipment, classrooms and the kitchen at the Albion Basic School. The children and parents were treated to refreshments and the Student Services and Development Manager led a parenting session titled: “Listen up! Children’s Voices Matter”, in celebration of Child’s Month. Tablet Donations At the 2021 virtual staging of the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNUMN), students from the Department of Government’s Model United Nations (UN) club won the social venture challenge. They received a cash prize of US$5,000. The prize money was used to improve the Information
