Rebuilding Foundations that Secure the Future of Higher Education
INTRODUCTION
T There was a vigorous adaptation to unique approaches that would enhance the learning and development of both teachers and students. The inventiveness of our technology teams to make the virtual accessible and infused with the dynamism of the face-to face-encounter, meant that both teachers and students were prepared to grapple with new learning and development methods to cope with the new modes of communication. One of our highlights was our support of the Ministry of Education’s teacher retention efforts, a valuable contribution made by the Campus to the society’s future educational welfare. Some of this could not be delivered without the welcomed support of donations from partners and friends of The UWI at home and abroad, that continued to support research and learning. The primary focus for the academic year was on developing the faculty member as a teacher,
but with some attention to the faculty member as a person. CETL was also involved with instructional development of courses, curriculum and student learning. In that regard, the major approaches to faculty development were as follows:
