SANTA ANA, CAL. As superintendents of the .Bible I n' stitute we wish to express to you our appreciation of the work Miss Wood has done in her Bible classes here. She is an exceptional Bible student and teacher, and a. very spiritual woman, and she has been the means of helping many into a deeper Christian experi- ence. We feel that she is a most worthy representative of all t h at the Institute stands for, and at our last meeting there was a unanimous vote taken by the class as an expression of their desire to have her, continue her work with us next fall upon returning from her vacation. With deep interest in all that you are doing for Christ, and praying that He may continue to be glorified in all that you do, we remain, SANTA ANA BIBLE CLASS. " I do not suppose I need to tell you how much we have appreciated Miss wood's work among us the past year. She began her class in Bible Study at our house (1200 W. 30th St.) soon a f t er Dr. P r a tt closed his tent work near Vermont' avenue. The Bible study has been very helpful, but more than that has been the earnest, .prayers which' have gone up to the Father for special cases of need which have been pre- sented by members of the class and Miss Wood, and God has heard prayer for many of the cases. I fear Miss Wood has ben overworked, because we have carried our trials and perplexities to her, and she has been so sympathetic and helpful. We are. hoping for her perfect restoration to health and strength, and we want you. to,send her back to us this fall. I hope this Christian Workers' Con- ference is but the beginning of an an- nual conference. I . feel sure this has been a blessing to many, but when it becomes an Annual, the attendance will grow and more be benefitted. Praise the Lord for anything that makes peo- ple 'study the Holy Word more;'' THE "MUSTS" IN THE LIFE OF CHRIST. 1. I love to impress this truth, that " p ower belongeth unto Go d ." It is not ours naturally. We have tried and tried, and failed and failed. A man under the power of an evil habit says: " I can stop when I please," but when he tries to stop he finds that he has not the power. A short time ago a man came into my ,office on business, and after we had attended to that, I said, " W h a t makes you drink ? ' ' " H o w do you know I d o ? " he re- plied. " E v e r y vein in your face tells the story,'? I said. Then I asked him how much money he spent on liquor, and he admitted that he used about a bottle of whiskey a day. I showed him how he was surely going down, down into a drunkard's grave; and then I told him: " You can't stop now by any effort you can m a k e ." "We l l, couldn't the grace of God do it for m e ? " he asked. Notice, he professed to be a Chris- tian. I told him that the power of God was his only houe, and asked him: "Wi ll you kneel down here now, and promise God that by His grace you will never touch another d r o p ?" He said that seemed too hard. " B u t you said you'could if you chose.
