EXCELLENT BUSINESS RESULTS

SUCCESSFUL FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR FOR AIR SERBIA When it comes to Air Serbia’s performance in the first six months of 2023, record-breaking results were achieved under multiple parameters

THE SERBIAN NATIONAL AIRLI- NE transported approximately 1.7 million passengers in the first two quarters of this year alone, repre- senting an 87 per cent increase on last year, or a 59 per cent increa- se compared to the record-setting pre-pandemic year of 2019. When it comes to the total number of pa- ssengers passing through Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, Air Serbia pas- sengers accounted for approxima- tely 50 per cent. In June alone, the market share of Air Serbia passen- gers at the Belgrade airport totalled 55 per cent. Air Serbia operated a total of 19,181 flights during the noted peri- od, which is up 63 per cent on the same period of last year and 38 per cent on the first half of 2019. These positive operational out- comes led to a record financial re- sult. According to preliminary finan- cial reports, the Serbian national airline recorded profits totalling 22.4 million euros in the first half of the year, which is practically the

level of profits recorded over the whole of 2022. In view of its positive financial results, and in accordance with do- mestic laws and as a show of res- pect for the legislative framework of the European Union, Air Serbia de- cided to repay the Republic of Ser- bia 20 million euros already during the course of this year, on the basis of funds received through last ye- ar’s recapitalisation procedure. Air Serbia thereby also expressed its gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Serbia for its support and emphasised that it will continue to meet its obligations under the Recapitalisation Agreement. The Republic of Serbia carried out the recapitalisation of the Ser- bian national airline, in accordan- ce with European and domestic re- gulations, in December 2020 and again in September 2022, doing so as a measure aimed at counte- ring the disruptions to the airline’s operations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic during 2020 and 2021.
