that also attracted other colleagues to join us in front of the cameras. The great chemistry that you had also seems to have contributed to the success of the series? - It was very challenging to strike a balance between come- dy, mystery and drama in a single series. The three of us discussed this topic a lot, because when all those emotions hit you from so many sources (many people work on the series’ script and they all bring some world of their own to the story) you find yourself on very slippery ground, where one wrong move can turn everything into a fiasco. What did you enjoy the most about being part of this small but exclusive trio? - Laughing, of course. They con- stantly made jokes at my expense so I couldn't stop laughing, even at the moments when no one was say- ing anything. Simply being on set with Steve and Martin is enough to ensure a smile never leaves your face. Just looking at the two of them made me laugh, because I knew what was awaiting us on the set that day. It is tough to control the brain and stop it from forming images for itself and imagining in advance what a scene will look like when we start working on it. One thing that we all had in common was that we were there to have a great time, to laugh and create a positive atmosphere. How difficult is it to find the right balance between your everyday life, other obligations and filming? - You know that golden rule for the gym: “No pain, no gain”? It’s the same in filming: if you don’t really sweat and roll up your sleeves, the audience will feel it. We set our- selves the goal of getting togeth- er and hanging out, of getting the work done and having a crazy fun time while doing it. I don't have much acting experience, but that chemistry that we’ve had from the start encouraged me to pick up the
pace and find talent within me that I wasn't even aware I had. I’m hon- oured that I became part of this funny gang. Who is Mabel, introduce us to her a little... - What I love most about my experience with her is that I genu- inely came to love her. It seems to me that our little “communication” helped me to overcome some very large and difficult challenges that I faced in my life and career during previous years. It was as though she
relaxed my thoughts in a way, and helped me reconstruct them and move on. I definitely imprinted a lot of Mabel into my personality. It even seems to me that I’m more like her than some old Selena today. It meant a lot to me that, from ep- isode to episode, I spoke with the series’ authors and screenwriters about what I would add to her per- sonality. As time went by, they de- veloped increasing confidence in me and my advice on the issue of fash- ion and her style. It was meaningful to me that I was thus able to par- ticipate in the creation of her per-
sonality. And that process was al- so reversed. She influenced me as much as I constructed her. Sting also makes a cameo appearance in the series? Did he fit in easily? - We were all amazed by how easily he did! From the first mo- ment on set, it was as though had been acting for years already. He’s a real nerd. He arrived on set fully prepared and knew the entire script. He was enthusiastic, focused and infinitely fun and charming. He al- so has a great sense of humour. We enjoyed working with him.
