“Our island offers incentive travel planners immersive itineraries blending wild beauty, ancient landscapes, and refined craftsmanship. It affords delegates the chance to unplug in remarkable style. These experiences aren’t just scenic – they’re sensorial, soul-restoring, and deeply Tasmanian.” The timing is significant for Tasmania’s hospitality and tourism sectors, which continue to benefit from growing interest in experiential travel. Corporate groups, conference organisers and incentive planners are increasingly looking beyond traditional capital city venues in favour of destinations that offer memorable experiences alongside quality facilities. LUMINA has been designed to capitalise on that shift, giving organisers access to a premium event space while showcasing the best of Tasmania’s food, wine, hospitality and natural surroundings. Beyond its impact on tourism and events, LUMINA is also delivering significant economic benefits during construction. Project management is being undertaken by Light Box, while SHAPE Tasmania is responsible for construction and the venue’s fit-out. The project places a strong emphasis on local materials and expertise. Its mass-engineered timber structure is being constructed entirely from Tasmanian Plantation Oak, while bespoke Tasmanian Oak joinery will feature throughout the venue. Both materials are grown, harvested and processed in Tasmania before being supplied for manufacture.

Events hosted within the venue will showcase Tasmanian produce, craftsmanship and hospitality, creating experiences that are unmistakably local while meeting the expectations of national and international visitors. The project has also been welcomed by the state’s business events sector, which continues to grow in both scale and economic importance. Business Events Tasmania CEO Marnie Craig said the addition of LUMINA would strengthen Tasmania’s position as a premium destination for corporate and incentive travel. “The addition of LUMINA to Hobart’s business events offering secures our place as a world-class international incentive destination,” she said. “Business events are worth $3.5 trillion globally, and $21 billion in Australia. Tasmania continues to grow its share, particularly in the lucrative corporate and incentive market, where incentive events command
