King's Business - 1955-01

Note carefully the five hows in verses 14 and 15. In a powerful way they set forth the believer’s responsibility in pro claiming the gospel. The Pauline Example 1 Cor. 2:1-5 No better example of one who faith fully carries out the church’s responsibil ity can be found than the Apostle Paul. He had a great burden for the salvation of the lost. Nothing else mattered but to get the gospel out. The heart of his preaching was Christ crucified (v. 2). In all sorts of circumstances he persisted in this ministry (v. 3). He labored at this business in the power of the Spirit of God (v. 4). Only such witnessing will bear fruit of eternal value (v. 5). They who labor for Christ need always to re member that the only effective work done for God is that done under the con trol of the Spirit of God. For spiritual victory it is “ Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zech. 4:6). Helps for the Children The Good News for Everyone Acts 2:14-41 M EMORY VERSE: "And he said unto them. Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" Mark 16:15. Have you ever heard some good news that you could scarcely wait to tell to someone else? Some news you want to share with only a few close friends, but

other news you want everyone you meet to hear. The early Christians personally knew the Lord Jesus. They watched Him per form miracles and heard His life-giving words and knew that He was indeed the Son of God. He changed their lives as they followed Him and obeyed His com mandments. They knew that He was the Saviour of the world! How eager they were to share this good news with others! They were not ashamed to have others know that they were followers of the Son of God. Some of them knew that if they refused to deny their Lord they would be killed or tortured. The cost of being a Christian in those days was far greater than it is in most lands today. Even though the first Christians knew that their testimony for Christ might cause their death, they remembered His last com mandment: “ Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Their hearts were so full of joy and love for Him that they could not be quiet. Even in prisons and when they were ban ished to strange lands they fearlessly told others the good news of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you love your Lord so much that you cannot help telling those at school, in your home and in your neighborhood about Him? His command to you as well as to the first Christians is: “ Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” END.
