most miserable” (I Cor. 15:19). Concerning death and the resur rection, Paul exhorts the bereaved Christians to “ sorrow not, even as others which have no hope” (I Thess. 4:13). Beloved, we as believers have a hope which is steadfast and sure for it is based in the unchangeable character of God Himself. This hope encourages us in life and death, supports in difficulty, and comforts in adversity. It is a stimulus to purity of life and an assurance of our resurrection. It produces patience in trials and ex pectation for life with God. May, in the word o f Scripture, “ the God o f hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope , through the power of the Holy Ghost” (Rom. 15:13). The Rev. Vernon D. the glory o f our Lord Jesus. It will be at this time that believers will see those who came to the Lord through their ministry, and real ize the fulfillment of their hope, joy, and crown o f rejoicing (I Thess. 2 :19). Believers of all ages have longed for this time when this life on earth will be but his tory and we shall meet Him who loves us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, for our citizenship is in heaven (Phil. 3: 20). This certainty o f hope is the indwelling Christ, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). The Christian life is to be a life of rejoicing in hope (Rom. 12: 12). What more could be calcu lated to increase and promote joy and rejoicing than the hope of heavenly, eternal blessings in the future? Well did the Psalmist say, “ In thy presence is fulness o f jo y ; at thy right hand there are pleas ures for evermore” (Psalm 16: 11 ); and again, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness” (Psalm 17:15). This hope gives strength in times o f despair. Note again the words o f Seripture, “Why art thou cast down, 0 my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him, who is the health o f my counten ance, and my God” (Psalm 43:5). This hope needs to be nurtured and Scripture aids in this, for Paul indicates the Word should be read to increase and nourish our hope (Rom. 15:4). The foun dations and support o f Christian hope as found in God’s Word are firm and certain. We have the au thoritative and immutable prom ises of God; we have the ministry, of Jesus Christ, our great high priest; and we were sealed with the Holy Spirit o f promise until the redemption o f the purchased possession. Assuredly, the believ er’s hope is certain. Note carefully that the unbe liever is one having no hope (Eph. 2:12) and without the resurrec tion there is no hope o f the future, for “ If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men
