Ace of cups is our card for December. A hopeful lovely card to end the year with. All the cards are loaded with symbolism. The cup in this card is the capacity of our soul and speaks to our spirituality with all our hopes and fears. The water is an ocean of feelings and our connectedness with everything. Aces are beginnings, awakenings where things have taken seed and begin to grow. With the holiday season upon us and another trip around the sun coming to completion we tend to look back wondering what our take away is. 2022 was no joke, and not exactly the “summer of love”. It doesn’t matter if our sobriety is newly minted or years in, the “sans alcohol” lifestyle makes us more aware of the bigger questions in life. “What’s it all about Alfie.” (One of my favourite lines from any movie ever). The Ace of Cups cuts to the chase telling us to stop with the navel gazing for one thing, the outpouring of water from the cup is reminding us that we have a lot to give. Give love, give time, give money to a food bank. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, a smile to that elderly woman who sits alone on the park bench everyday. Just give. The ace of cups offers a glimpse into the simplicity of life and what’s important. Love is the essential ingredient. Without it, life has little meaning. It’s the best thing we have to give and the most valuable thing we receive. It’s worth all the hullabaloo. Cheryl Strayed -
