dates respectives de chaque secteur seront le 24 mars pour Orléans et Cumberland, le 25 mars pour Orléans-Gloucester, le 1 er avril pour Prescott-Russel et le 8 avril dans le secteur de Vanier et du centre-ville d’Ottawa. Le tout premier championnat national de EMC, quant à lui, aura lieu le 7 mai. Selon ses fondateurs, le concours d’or- thographe permet non seulement à ses participants d’améliorer leurs habiletés en orthographe, mais également d’acquérir une ferme confiance en soi et une facilité à communiquer en public. À l’instar de son équivalent anglophone, EMC entend éventuellement prendre des dimensions nationales. Celle-ci pourrait donc donner la chance à des milliers de jeunes francophones de vivre cette expé- rience formidable tout en leur démontrant que l’on peut s’amuser dans la langue de Molière de plusieurs façons.
Pour la toute première fois ce printemps, les élèves francophones de la région au- ront l’occasion de participer à Épelle-moi Canada (EMC). Lancée en octobre der- nier, cette compétition se veut le pendant de langue française du célèbre Spelling Bee Canada, une joute d’épellation qui remporte un franc succès auprès des jeunes Canadiens depuis une trentaine d’années. Cette compétition, dont la date limite d’inscription a été fixée au 31 janvier 2017, se destine aux élèves de 6 à 14 ans. Les participants inscrits auront l’occasion de se préparer grâce au matériel didactique fourni par les organisateurs ainsi que de participer à des séances d’entraînement. NOTICE OF ACCOMMODATION REVIEW COMMITTEE (ARC) PUBLIC MEETING FOR PRESCOTT-RUSSELL FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
The Upper Canada District School Board is continuing with the Building for the Future Pupil Accommodation Review process by hosting a second round of Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) public meetings. The purpose of these meetings, which follow the first round of public meetings held in November 2016, is to receive further information from the public in response to the draft recommendations for school closures and consolidations presented in an Initial Staff Report that was received by the Board of Trustees on September 28, 2016. A copy of that report, additional information, and a link to an online survey in response to the draft recommendations presented in the report are available through the Pupil Accommodation Review link, on the UCDSB main page, at www.ucdsb.on.ca. School district revisions The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) has some new figures to file with the Education Ministry on both its enrolment and budget projections for the current operating year. The CDSBEO board received revised estimates from Finance Manager Ashley Hutchinson during its Dec. 20 session that show a 0.9 per cent increase in student enrolment figures for the 2016-2017 term “which is very positive” according to Hutchinson. The confirmed enrolment increase means a revision of the project budget for the term. The new total operations budget figure is $170.6 million along with a capital projects budget of $10.4 million. The CDSBEO will forward the revisions to the ministry. – Gregg Chamberlain Durant la période des Fêtes, M. Lionel Cheff, propriétaire de la firme Nérée Lavictoire Roofing & Siding, a remis sa contribution annuelle au Centre d’aide de Clarence-Rockland. Dans la photo, M. Cheff (à droite) remet un chèque de 15 000 $ au président du Centre d’aide, Yvon Huppé. Entre le 23 décembre 2005 et le 15 décembre 2016, soit sur une période de 11 ans, M.
