Other services include the latest high- resolution site characterization (HRSC) systems and soil gas sampling services, in-situ remediation technologies services, and landfill gas testing services for the solid-waste industry. Primary service areas include the Rockies, Midwest and Gulf Coast regions, but specialty projects take Vista all over the country and international. John Fontana, CPG, CWD, president and CEO, started the company in 1986 conducting trace oil gas analysis for oil and gas exploration. “I started my first lease of 3,000 square feet at Corporate Center in the 1990s when I operated as Direct Geochemical Surveys Inc.,” he said. “We were offered a custom finish of the new space.” A merger into a company called Global Environmental Consultants Inc., dba Direct Geochemical, TEG Rocky Mountain and ESN Rocky Mountain, doubled their square footage, and the

company took over another 6,000-square-foot building at the Corporate Center business community. For added efficiency in the field, Vista GeoScience built mobile laboratories to conduct expedited site investigations. After selling that business, Vista needed more warehouse space and less space for the lab. So, Vista GeoScience moved again to an adjacent space that suited its needs like a glove. “It was the same size but had more warehouse space and the right amount of office space, which, luckily, became available for a sublease,” said Fontana. “St. John Properties allowed us to exit our lease and start a new lease on that adjacent space, rather than sublease from the previous tenant.” In any business, change is inevitable, and that’s especially true for small businesses. Each time Vista GeoScience encountered a change in its business model that affected the floorplan of their

facility, St. John Properties was quick to accommodate and work it into the lease. For instance, Fontana said there was no tub sink in the warehouse area at Vista’s most recent space. They asked for the sink installation and for an employee shower addition, and St. John Properties designed, installed and simply factored the cost into the company lease. “We have had the need for office, shop and laboratory space over the years, and St. John Properties has been able to accommodate any buildouts and modifications along the way,” Fontana said. This flexible partnership fosters growth from both sides — a true win-win arrangement. Beyond that, Fontana said, “The facilities and landscaping are all maintained at the highest levels and provide a professional look to our operations, including snow removal. All of the above advantages come with leases at market rates, and we would likely not find all of these advantages combined at other properties.”
