Baseball fans wait for snow to go
tournament featuring at least half a dozen teams. Tingley confirmed he has the sup- port of the City of Clarence-Rockland for the bid and is working on the application paperwork now. With the season start for ball teams in the Little League Ottawa District Six area expected around mid-May, the CRBA may hold a second pre-season registration day
in April. Tingley noted that he is going to look into setting up an online registration system for next year to make it easier for parents and their children to sign up, should they miss any of the planned registration campaign days. Meanwhile, Tingley said, even if parents were unable to get their kids out for the March 28 registration session, he will make
sure that any child who wants to play ball will be able to get a place in the team lineup. «I never turn any youngster away,» he said, adding that parents can contact him online through the league website at www. leaguelineup.com/rocklandstars. Anyone interested in coaching and other volunteer positions can also contact Tingley through the website.

First day of registration for the Clarence- Rockland Baseball Association’s (CRBA) new season took place on a sunny Saturday in the foyer of the Clarence-Rockland Arena on the Canadian International Hockey Academy campus (CIHA). CRBA President Darren Tingley doesn’t mind that there was still snow outside on the CIHA lawns. At least, he noted, the weather this year during pre- season registration is better than other times. He has clear memories of minus 20 degree temperature one year on the day scheduled for baseball league sign-ups, and a savage snow storm another year. «I’m just looking forward to summer,» Tingley said. «I think everybody is.» The CRBA offers T-Ball for players ages 4 to 6, Coach Pitching for ages 7 and 8, Minor ball for ages 9 and 10, Major for ages 11 and 12, Junior for ages 13 and 14, and Senior for the 15- and 16-year-olds.The club also plans to add a Little League Canada Intermediate ball program for players 11 to 13. There is also a plan to field a U13 team for the District 6 Playdowns duringmid-July. The CRBA is also trying to put in a bid to host the event, which would be a provincial-level
