The Saving Brinton Experience & Aftermath with Michael Zahs Hills Bank in North Liberty (590 W Forevergreen Rd) Wednesday, June 5, 9:30 a.m. The Iowa documentary film Saving Brinton has been traveling the world for the last two years, bringing to light a rare collection of some of the oldest moving pictures in the world found in southeast Iowa by local collector and historian Michael Zahs. As the subject of the film, Zahs attempts to restore and exhibit the newsreels, home movies, and lost films. Join us as Michael Zahs discusses what it was like to be followed by a film crew for 3 ½ years, traveling with the film to three continents, seven countries, 21 states, and over 120 screenings, and how the film was reviewed and received around the world. A question and answer session will follow his discussion. We recommend viewing the film before attending the event. You can rent the DVD at Film Scene in Iowa City or purchase the DVD at brintonfilm.com/ store. The film can also be viewed online on Iowa Public Television, Amazon Prime Video, Vimeo, and iTunes.
