MISSISSIPPI Cruise along the Lower Mississippi River from Memphis to New Orleans aboard a luxurious paddlewheeler! Following our flight into Memphis, TN, we will overnight at the historic Peabody Hotel and enjoy a free evening to explore and dine at one of the city’s famed eateries. The following morning, enjoy a private tour of the city before boarding the American Duchess , our home for the next seven nights. This ship is the first all-suite paddlewheeler to sail on US rivers, offering large accommodations, fine dining, and luxury amenities. Our first full day of cruising will take us to a port of the Mississippi Delta to become inspired as many authors, musicians, and artists have been for centuries! Day four will see us in Vicksburg, MS, where we’ll have the chance to explore Southern culture and Civil War history. Beautifully restored homes such as Rosalie Mansion and Magnolia Hall await us in Natchez, MS, while Baton Rouge offers a number of opportunities to discover art, military history, and Louisiana culture. As we continue cruising down the river, St. Francisville, LA, is the next stop on our list. Here we will browse the shops on Royal Street, visit the West Feliciana Historical Society Museum, and tour one of the oldest Protestant churches in the state. Our last day of cruising will bring us to Nottoway Plantation for a tour of the South’s largest remaining antebellum mansion. With three floors, sixty-four bedrooms, and vibrant gardens, the mansion has earned the nickname, “the White Castle.” The following morning, we will disembark in New Orleans and catch our flight home with wonderful memories of our cruise down the Mississippi.
