SCW Encourages Music Appreciation SCW Honors Students recently attended a concert by the New York Philharmonic at the newly renovated Lincoln Center, conducted by Ruth Reinhardt. Honoring Emil A. Fish, Holocaust Survivor and Educator More than 270 guests celebrated the leadership and commitment of the founder and benefactor of YU’s Emil A. and Jenny Fish Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies, in a gala in Santa Monica, raising over $400,000 to further the Center’s work—to build a cadre of teachers, professionals and lay leaders committed to Holocaust education and remembrance. Mr. Fish will also be awarded an Honorary Doctorate at YU’s 2023 Commencement. READ MORE
Record-Breaking Crowds at the 2023 Sarachek Basketball Invitational The 30th annual Red Sarachek Invitational Basketball Tournament was held from March 23–27, hosted by MTA High School and taking place at Yeshiva University. The tournament welcomed 24 yeshiva high school basketball teams from across the United States and Canada to compete for the top spot in North America’s most prestigious Jewish high school basketball competition. Valley Torah High School of Los Angeles earned their second consecutive title against SAR High School of NYC in an electric 56–48 victory. The championship game attracted a large crowd of over 800 spectators in the Max Stern Athletic Center, with an additional 200 fans gathering at an outdoor viewing party featuring a high-tech digital broadcast truck in the heart of Wilf Campus.
