Love of the Game Fall, 2021 Premier Auction

Spectacular example from the desirable W600 Sporting Life cabinet issue, picturing Hall of Famer Joe Kelley. Along with his M101-1 and National Copper Plate (and not counting the virtually impossible Alpha Engraving card of 1894), the gorgeous cabinet is considered Kelley’s rookie card. In wonderful condition, the cabinet mount does exhibit very light wear at the corners, and is otherwise outstanding. What appears to be a small white blemish in the image border near the bottom-left is actually a light mark on the holder, and not on the card. An important card from the popular cabinet card issue. 14. 1902-1911 W600 Sporting Life Cabinets Joe Kelley (HOF RC) - SGC EX 5 MINIMUM BID: $750 A CURATED SELECTION OF GREAT CARDS

Highly desirable card from the 1907 Dietsche Postcards issue, one of the earliest cards of the Hall of Fame outfielder issued in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers’ appearance in the 1907 series. The Dietsche issue included two poses of Cobb - one picturing him fielding (which it is theorized was issued only in 1907) and this one, picturing him batting (which was issued in both 1907 and 1908). This particular example was issued in 1907, as indicated

on the copyright date printed on the card reverse - a true rookie postcard. As prices realized for the “fielding” pose have escalated, the “batting” pose has followed suit with collector-grade examples selling well into the thousands. This is an extremely attractive example,

15. 1907 Dietsche Postcards Ty Cobb (HOF RC) - SGC PR 1 MINIMUM BID: $750

graded PR 1 by SGC, due largely to postal use and the associated writing, which is present on both the front and back of the card. The card is postmarked June 12, 1908. Additional wear is evident on the corners and surface, consistent with the grade. A truly exceptional card from Ty Cobb’s first full season, well-preserved for the grade, with outstanding eye appeal.
