The Cornwall River Kings suffered back-to- back losses on the road at the end of Sep- tember in Sorel Tracy and Trois-Rivieres. The team got a rematch against Trois-Riv- ieres this past Saturday night after their 5-0 blanking the previous Saturday. “Last weekend we played with a short bench both nights and many of our signed regular players were not in the lineup,” said head coach Al Wagar said. Colts come back against Grads Alexandre Gendron tied the game early in the third and Michael Pontarelli scored in overtime to give the Cornwall Colts a 3-2 victory over Cumberland Thursday night. The Grads took the lead just 2:29 into the game on a power play goal by Mark Gol- berg, but Gendron tied it up on the power play three minutes later. Pontarelli finished the comeback with a power play goal with 3:19 left in overtime – his fifth goal in three games. It is the Colts second consecutive victory after snapping a three-game losing skid with a win over the Smith Falls Bears on Sept. 28. The win left the Colts in third place with a 6-4 record, three points behind the league-leading Bears atop the Robinson Di- vision. The Colts’next home game is against the Kemptville 73s on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Grads regained the lead 3:22 into the second period until Gendron knotted it up less than four minutes into the third.
