The Kern County Fairgrounds has been home to the Western Nationals for over 40 years and this year they picked Dennis Portman’s ’53 Chevrolet BelAir that sports a 350/200R4 powertrain, a Heidt’s IFS, PPG ’54 Chevy Turquoise paint, and Vintique steelies wear- ing Diamondback rubber for its “Pick.”
Bob Bertozzi out of Campbell, CA, has owned his ’59 Chevy Impala for 62 years. The Chevy now sports an LS3 powerplant with a 4L60E tran- ny, chrome steelies wearing BFG rubber, a Ford Currie rearend, and Roman Red paint.
Angelo Mazzei loves early Ford hot rod pickups, and we love his latest ’33 Ford pickup that runs a built Chevy 350 power- plant, a TCI chassis with their tubular IFS, American six-spoke wheels, and bucket seats covered in black leather.
