wood body in Maple and Birch that he finished in clear. Lee Bumgardner of Zoomers straightened out the sheetmetal and laid down the dark blue metallic paint. The couple saw the color on Overhaulin’ (the Chip Foose TV show) and contacted Chip who put them in touch with the painter who still had a can and could read the mix. The couple filled the interior with ’90 Lexus buckets, a Dodge Caravan rear seat, a rear DVD player, Classic Instruments in a custom veneered gauge panel, a large touchscreen stereo, a unique wood rimmed Banjo-style wheel, and then had Jay Schluter stitch the blue leather interior. One of my favorite parts of the tech sheet was when Carol explained that she grew up a car girl.
Going to all the local rod runs with her family, driv- ing a ‘69 Chevy Camaro to high school, later a ‘34 Ford Tudor replaced the Camaro, and everything else rodders worldwide do. She said Doug married into the car thing and I don’t doubt it, but he’s now a full-on rodder. One of the things that made me shoot the rod was when they were in Vermont this year, I happened by the car as Carol was letting someone behind the wheel and Doug was explain- ing to another guy about the mechanicals on the car. That’s what rodders do, share their rod and the knowledge to build one, and I love it. I hope you’re out there sharing your rod with the world like the Kasels, and I’ll see you all on the road.
