God Wants Effort Phil. 1:17

It is much better to “last out” than to “bum out.” Our Lord Jesus said, “ The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.” Yet, while this was true, He was calm, poised, and peaceful in all the work that He did. The burning and the suffering came from the way outsiders treated Him, not from the way He acted and lived. In Mark 6:31 the Lord called His disciples away from the very busy throng who were pressing for help, and urged them to come alone with Him to rest. God Wants Zeal Titus 2:14 We should be earnest Christians in our work, full of vision, and planning for His glory. We should seek opportunities to win men for Christ and to teach Christians how to live. We should ex pound the Word and seek every oppor tunity to do so. We should be in the service of the King early and late, in sunshine and in shadow, in season and out of season. Every opportunity should be seized for warning men, teaching them, and exalting Christ before them. We are not to be lazy, nor careless, nor indolent. We are to be filled with that zeal which is according to knowledge. God Wants Enthusiasm Rom. 1:15 Discouraged Christians are rarely of much use to God. Enthusiastic Christians leap the hurdles, smile at the difficulties, and recognize no hindrances. It is the joy of the Lord that is our strength. Even our giving is to be hilarious and enthusiastic. We should be enthusiastic in our house-to-house work, or in public preaching or private conversation. Folks should be able to see that we believe in what we are doing. They should know that we have energy and joy in the work that we have undertaken for our blessed Lord.

The work of God calls for planning and preparation. We are to put our souls into the business of serving our Lord intelligently, wisely, and helpfully. The garden of God must be cultivated. Flow ers and vegetables grow by effort but weeds grow by themselves. No work of God will prosper unless it is given time and attention together with prayer and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. The best ways and means should be devised to get the work done that God has placed in our hands. Let us make every effort to see that the work of God suc ceeds. God Wants Constancy 1 Cor. 15:58 God does not compare His children to bullfrogs or toads. They make occasional jumps and then sit for a long time. God’s children are to be running the race day in and day out with their eyes upon the Lord Jesus. Christians are to run the race until they have finished their course. They are not to be on the mountain-top one day and in the valley the next. They are not to fight the enemy on one field and then run away, in another. They are to be always abounding, not occasionally interested. It is this constancy that makes the work of God successful for His glory.

It should be the desire of all God’s people to leave behind in the hearts of many an impression of Heaven and of God. After we are gone only our mem ories should be a blessing received from our lips and hearts while we are alive. T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
