RULES FOR 2026 MEN’S GOLF SEASON The golf events at Wilmington Country Club provide a variety of formats for all levels of competition. This section provides information on the events including schedule, rules, and participation procedures. Any changes to the published schedules will be posted in advance. The Men’s Golf Program is divided into two tournament sections: Annual Championships and Major Tournaments.
5

ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS ENTRY FEES Participation into all Annual Championships may be gained by paying a $200 annual entry fee. A member may instead choose to pay a per event fee of $65 for President’s Cup & Better Ball of Partners, $35 for the Putting Championship and $50 for all other Annual Championship. All events in which a member participates before his annual entry fee is received will be charged the individual event rate.
5

ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS President’s Cup Better Ball of Partners Senior Match Play Championship Senior & Super Senior Handicap Championship Mixed Two Ball Championship Men’s Match Play Championship Men’s Club Championship Senior Stroke Play Championship Men’s Putting Championship
5

Matches in the Annual Championships must be completed by the dates noted in the schedule. Continuing in 2026, players advancing to the next round are asked to confirm with the Golf Shop the play date with their next opponent following the close of each round. If two opposing sides cannot agree on a time to play, then the match must be played on the original deadline date, Sunday at 1 p.m. Requests for match extensions must be submitted to the Men’s Golf Committee for approval. The maximum extension granted for any match will be one week past the established deadline. For the convenience of all participants, players are requested not to enter tournaments unless they are reasonably certain they can play on the scheduled dates. The Men’s Golf Committee may grant extensions only after reviewing extraordinary or extenuating circumstances.
5

All putts must be holed in any Stroke Play Annual Championship round.
5

GREENVILLE CUP The winners of the Better Ball of Partners, President’s Cup, Club Championship (Championship Flight), Senior Match Play Championship and Men’s Match Play will qualify to play in the Greenville Cup. In the case of duplicate winners, the Men’s Golf Committee will invite replacement player(s). The Greenville Cup is a tri-club match between Wilmington Country Club, Bidermann Golf Club, and Fieldstone Golf Club. The six players, along with the Golf Professional and Superintendent, will compete against players from each of the other clubs. This year’s Men’s Greenville Cup will be played Wednesday, September 30th, at Wilmington Country Club.
5

DON PEDRO CUP The Don Pedro Cup is a season-long points competition, similar to the PGA Tour FedEx Cup. Players are awarded points based on their finish in sanctioned men’s golf events, including points for participation. At the end of the season, the player with the highest points total will receive recognition as the Men’s Don Pedro Cup Champion. Prizes will be awarded to the top ten finishers.
6

Points will be awarded for the following men’s golf events: President’s Cup, Better Ball of Partners, Senior/Super Senior Handicap Championship, Senior Club Championship Match Play, Men’s Match Play, Mixed Two-Ball Championship, Club Championship, Senior/Super Senior Stroke Play, Twilight League, One-Day Member-Guests, Opening Event, Wilmington Cup, Holiday Tournament, Labor Day Member-Member, Annual Member-Member, Invitational, and Clover Hill Cup.
6

HANDICAP & SCORE POSTING Members must post a score in the handicap computer for all rounds played, including qualifying and Match Play rounds. For Major Tournament and Annual Championships, the Golf Shop will post scores for all Stroke Play rounds. It is the responsibility of the player to post scores in Match Play rounds.
6

Any member who wishes to have a handicap should contact the Golf Shop.
6

A total of 54 holes (three 18-hole or six 9-hole rounds) must be played to establish an official Handicap Index.
6

Once 20 scores are recorded, the best 8 scores of the last 20 will count towards your Handicap Index.
6

A player should submit his or her score as soon as possible on the day of play, after completion of the round, and before midnight. In the event that you fail to post on the same day, the score should still be posted.
6

Rounds played alone should not be posted for handicap purposes.
6

Handicaps update daily. See the GHIN app for your current handicap. This will vary based on the tee played.
6

You must play at least nine holes for a score to be acceptable for handicap purposes. When indicating the number of holes played, you will see 9-hole, 18-hole, or 10-17 holes. For 10-17 holes played, you must enter hole-by-hole scores.
6

For handicap posting purposes, a player’s maximum score on any hole is net double bogey. For example: A player with a Course Handicap of 15 receives one handicap stroke on holes with a stroke index of 1 through 15 on the scorecard. On a par 4 with a stroke index of 10, the player’s maximum hole score is 7. Double bogey (6) +1 handicap stroke = 7. For players posting initial scores to establish a handicap index, the maximum hole score is Par + 5.
6

When starting a hole but not finishing it, record the score most likely to be made, not exceeding net double bogey.
