1017 what is| at variance with God’s revealed will. We talk about our beloved Ameri ca being a free country— it is the freest country in the world, but you go out from this service and break a law and see how long you are free; you are free in America as long as you obey the laws of America and that is just as it should be. There is also a glorious freedom in Christianity, it is the freedom of Grace that Paul knew when he said, “ I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” Surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ and you feel the tremendous Sweep of His power giving you victory, but that is not the freedom of license, it is the freedom of surrender to the will of God. Do you think that for one moment God’s marve lous Grace supersedes or suspends a sin gle law of God? Not for a minute! Not one law of God is suspended. Every true American who loves the old flag obeys because he loves to obey and so he is free because he is obedient and every true Christian who loves the Lord Jesus loves to obey Him and so he is free, not because there is no law but because he is obedient. The great need of the world today in the political realm is some downright, honest to goodness, respect for the laws of America and the need, greater than any other, in the religious realm is to bring men face to face with the fact that there is a God who is Au thority and that every man owes alle giance to Him. . How often one hears some one say, “I have a right to think, just as I please.” You do not have a right to think just as you please; your country does hot concede you that right and God does not concede it either. One must think according to facts. That is the only right a man has. I want to declare in no uncertain sound that if you have any freedom that denies law it is not of Divine, it is of. diabolic origin. It was the claim, “I have a right to think as I please,” that changed the greatest archangel into Satan.

Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and will shew thee great things, and difficult, that thou knowest not.” Jer. 33:2, 3. With heartiest greetings, Most truly yours, FRANK A. KELLER. Changsha, Hunan, China, June 12, 1922. WHAT IS RELIGIOUS DEMOCRACY? Paul Riley Allen, D. D. (Chicago) H VERY popular word today is “ Democracy.” Democracy in politics is, substantially, the rule of the people. Democracy in religion is the substitution of the con science and the reason for the authority of the Bible. Many are telling us today that conscience and reason must be the final court of appeal in matters of relig ion. There were two outstanding prin ciples of the Reformation; one was “Justification by Faith,” and the other was this, “ Whenever the conscience is not in harmony with the revealed -vill of God, that conscience is an erring con science.” This was one of the big prin ciples that brought the world back to faith in the days of Martin Luther and, that the church may come back where she ought to be, even at the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ, learning of Him and listening to Him and acknowledging His headship, let these words ring out, “ If your conscience is not in harmony with the Word of God, your conscience is an erring conscience.” The state allows a large degree of liberty in the matter of private judgment with regard to religious thinking and worship. But I want to say to you that God does not allow men to play fast and loose with what He has said. No man has the right from God to think or teach
