bottles and packages. , We do not like ‘prize boxes’ even in medicine or gro ceries. Still less in theology. Still less in these perilous times. Large man ufacturing establishments have a just pride in labeling their best products. The shoddy imitator and the ‘just as good’ artist mostly do not. Baptists who are Baptists do not stay up a 'tree while the battle rages on the ground between the Bible and its enemies, be tween the very- Christ of very God ana those who say He was just a good man. When one sidesteps when the conflict wages warm between Revelation and Naturalism, he may be very amiable, but the average man gets it about right when he says such a man is a Liberal- ist. If he is not, why does he not show his colors for an imperiled faith?” What Are We Coming T oy An exchange says:- “ R. A. Long, the millionaire lumber merchant of Kansas City, recently visited a daughter at Washington, D. C., and says that one day when his granddaughter of four teen years of age returned from a chil dren’s party she said, ‘Mother, I and another little girl were the only ones at the party who did not smoke.’ This incident reveals a startling situation, namely, that the smoking habit has gone beyond the ranks of men, women and boys, and has reached the ranks of girls, mere children in the supposed ly better homes of many of our citi zens. If this does not arouse the con science of America against the tobacco evil, nothing will. The one life in the junglesold, From lowly, creeping things, Did ever some new form unfold— Swift feet or soaring wings. The one life all the ages through Pursued its wondrous plan, Till, as the tree of promise grew, It blossomed into man. Fundamonkeyists and Fundamentalists We clip the following from the church calendar of the First Baptist Church, Danville, 111.: “ A ‘Fundamen talist’ is a foolish man or woman who believes that God wrote the Bible, that you cannot educate a soul into the Body of Jesus, that the Blood of Jesus alone rids a soul of sin, that God made the world and all that dwells therein, that Jesus was the Son of God, born of a Virgin, and that when .He said He was coming again and every eye should see Him, that He was thoroughly acquaint ed with what He was saying. In other words, a ‘Fundamentalist’ is accepting •the whole Bible as the Word of God, in spite of university philosophy. Shun the poor ‘Fundamentalist,’ send an ar ticle to the Denomination Press about them; they’ll print it. Beware of the foolish ‘Fundamentalist.’ The question before us is the old-time question, Evo lution or the Bible. In other words, a ‘Fundamonkeyist’ or a ‘Fundamental ist.’ The pastor of this church is a ‘Fundamentalist.’ ” Let’s Label the Dope! “A man who refuses to be labeled” is the way a Baptist periodical refers to the newly elected president of the Northern Baptists. The Western Re corder makes the following suggestive remarks: “ Mostly we favor labels for
