ready and willing, the Holy Spirit will open a way for you to talk about the Lord. Avoid controversial subjects. You are not trying to win an argu ment; you are trying to say something about the Lord. Give the other person an opportunity to ask a question or to present his views about the matter. Keep your voice down. You can be enthusiastic without speaking loudly. Don’t give the impression that you are bragging. You are sharing a grati fying experience with him. Don’t talk too fast; be sure to speak clearly. Your ten minute conversation may determine the eternal destiny of a soul. Don’t be sidetracked. Be positive and kindly persuasive. It is quite possible that you will arrive at the place where you can ask him if he will receive Jesus Christ as his Saviour, then and there. Follow this with prayer if he expreses his readiness to do so. Silently pray that the Holy Spirit will direct you. It is He wno is doing the work. If the con versation is interrupted or terminated, have an appropriate pamphlet to give him. You may suggest that you will talk to him at a future time. Be care ful to make the closing pleasant. Try personal evangelism through conversation. You will get the thrill of your life.
that a few of these persons will not be alive when these opportunities could be used. Don’t you think you could do some personal evangelism in everyday con versation? You do talk to people some, don’t you? It is possible that you are quite a good conversationalist and do a good deal of it. Most people do. You say, “Where and when?” On the bus, at coffee break, over the counter, while driving in the automobile, dur ing a friendly chat, or almost, any time. It is being done. There is more personal evangelism done during conversation than at any other time. If you haven’t tried this way, you have missed some real opportunities. An executive with whom I was rid ing in a cab started a conversation with the driver. Before we had gone many blocks, the conversation grace fully turned to things of the spirit and personal salvation. When we arrived at the destination, this Christian business man asked the driver if he would receive Jesus Christ as his Saviour. They bowed their heads in prayer and another sinner turned to God for forgiveness and peace. To be effective in conversation you must be a good listener and be inter ested in the things that the other person is talking about. If you are
