6 record the faithful witnessing of a dea con (Philip, Acts 6 :5 ). The church needs to catch again the vision of this sort of faithfulness in personal witnessing for Christ on the part of every member. The Believer's Responsibility Motivated 2 Cor. 5:14-20 The greatest motive for Christian serv ice is the love of Christ. Paul says it constraineth us. It is an impelling forca that overcomes all harriers. Realizing this love and what it has accomplished, the believer can no longer live unto himself (v. 15). He must live for Christ. He must live in harmony with the new na ture which this love has provided (v. 17). He must take seriously “ the ministry of reconciliation” (w . 18,19) which divine love has committed to every believer. This motive of Christ’s love w ill enable each one of us to discharge our responsibility as “ ambassadors for Christ” (v. 20). Helps For the Children Memory Verse: "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, If ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). W hen the Lord Jesus was upon the earth He, like we, had both friends and enemies. Jesus’ friends were eager to tell others about Him. The joy which He gave to them they wanted to share with others. Sometimes others received their Brave Friends of Jesus Acts 4:13-20; 8:4-8 ★ ★ message eagerly. Other times they were persecuted for talking about their Lord. Jesus’ friends needed courage to witness for Him. The hook of Acts tells many stories about those who suffered for their Saviour. Peter and Johnwere forbidden to preach the Lord Jesus and to teach about Him. Th ey might have left town or obeyed the counsel of men who com manded them to be quiet. Boldly Peter and John answered, “ W e cannot but speak the things which w e have seen and heard.” Later, many of the early Christians were persecuted for their testimony of what the Saviour had done for them. Rather than giving up their faith in Him, they preached the W ord wherever they went because of persecutions. M any found the Lord Jesus as Saviour because of the courage of those who were suffering for His sake. Is it hard for you to talk with others about the Lord Jesus? A re you afraid that they might make fun of you, or harm you in some way? Some Christian children are punished in their homes if they bow their head to thank God for their food or if they read their Bible or pray or sing songs about the Saviour. Human courage fails in times of perse cution and suffering. The Lord Jesus can give a courage that w ill never fail to tell others of His saving power. END. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Give your more with it than you can. — D w i g h t L. M o o d y
