Make Approaches and Set Appointments via Text or Private Messages Nearly every social media platform—Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.—includes a way to chat or send private or direct messages. Instead of broadcasting a sales message to all of your friends, followers, or connections, pay attention to their needs and then send a personal note in a private message inviting them to learn more.

Recognise the success of your team on a closed team page . “Congratulations on reaching Director 3, Christie! We are all so proud of you!” “So excited for Angela! She’ll be recognised on the main stage at Convention in a few weeks!” Keepyour congratulationsnondescript onapublicpageor site. “Congratulations, Lucy! It’s so exciting to see all of your success.” Celebrate using Melaleuca terms in a public group or on your wall. “Woohoo! I just advanced to Melaleuca Senior Director 5! Thanks everyone!” “Melaleuca—I am so blessed to work with this awesome Wellness Company! They just gave me a check for $5,000! My life rocks!” On Facebook, you can also sort your friends into specific lists. If you prefer not to create a group, you could create a friends list, call it “Melaleuca,” and add your business team to that list. When you post a status, you can choose to show your status only to friends on that particular list. DO: DON’T: Celebrate Success Congratulate your Melaleuca team, like or favourite their posts, and leave comments when they share their success. Create a “closed” or Facebook Group for your team where you can celebrate one another’s successes.

Send an approach via private message when you see a need or the time is right.

DO:

“I saw your post about your husband losing his job. I’d love to connect and show you what I’m doing so you can see if it would work for you.” “I read your post about your son’s dry skin. Would you be open to sitting down with me for coffee? There’s a great product I want to tell you about.”

Post a blanket, impersonal invitation on your Facebook wall, Twitter feed, or Pinterest board, or share it on a public forum, chat room, or comment thread.

DON’T:

“Need an extra $5,000? Janesucceeds.com” “Want to have more time for what matters most, greater professional freedom, and a better income? I can help. PM me for details.”

List and notify your team about events on your private group page or feed. “Hey everyone, we’ll be having our Power Hour at 6:30 tonight. I hope you can all make it.” “Overview at my home tonight at 7—bring your friends.” Post discussion topics, quotes, questions, or links to helpful information. “What do you think of this article about mums working from home?” [Post with a link to the article.] “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible’!” —Audrey Hepburn It’s also a great place to paste links to informative articles, share inspirational quotes, and have discussions about product- or business-related topics. DO: Keep Your Team Engaged A private Facebook page or “protected” Twitter feed can also be a great avenue for notifying your team about events, sharing information, and helping your team members feel they’re part of something bigger than themselves.

Discuss business-building or product questions on your wall, in a public group, or in a special-interest group that is not your team page.

DON’T:

“What’s the best way to approach your doctor about Melaleuca?” “What Melaleuca product would you use on a grape juice stain on your carpet?”
