FLYING INTO FALL

I know I say it a lot, but it’s hard to believe we’re closing in on the fourth quarter of the year! It seemed like summer just flew right by. The kids are already back in school and playing fall sports. Conner is getting into soccer, while Spencer is playing tackle football for the first time. He had played some flag football in the past, so it’ll be a change of pace, for sure. Spencer is about the same age I was when I played tackle football for the first time. His mom is a little nervous about it, but I think once he has a few games under his belt, she’ll feel better about it. I know I will! Over the summer, our family didn’t do much trip-wise. We had planned to stick close to home, and that’s exactly what we did. It’s not the most exciting, but we do have a family trip planned for the fall. At some point in October, we’re going to head out to … somewhere! We haven’t settled on a destination just yet, but we’re thinking somewhere fun where we can make plenty of wonderful memories. And, if we hit the road as a family, we’ll be extra prepared. The lease on my wife’s Impala was up this summer, and we felt it was time to change things up. She really liked the Impala, but decided to move on to the ’18 Traverse, which will be perfect for both boys. We’ll be able to pack in the kids, their friends, all their sports

equipment, chairs, coolers — you name it! It’s going to be a great addition to our family.

There are a lot of great products in the pipeline through the rest of the year and into next year. We’re excited to get new vehicles on the lot and share them with you! We’re so excited, in fact, that we already have everything ready for our October open house! It’s going to be a good one, and you can find more information about the event on Page 4. -Todd Thurston We look forward to seeing you then, and in the meantime, I hope you have a great start to fall!

At the Hare Truck Center, we not only had a great first half of the year, but that momentum continued through the summer. The lead times are getting longer for body companies, as well as the chassis companies — there are just so many orders. Sometimes I wonder how we keep up with it all. We’ve already begun to reach out to many of our customers to help them start planning for their spring vehicles. Based on what we saw this year, we’re anticipating a big demand going into the spring months of 2019. We want to make sure wait times are minimized and that everyone has what they need when they need it.

Tailgating at Its Finest

5 TAILGATES SO GOOD YOU MIGHT MISS THE GAME

3. Louisiana State University Geaux Tigers! LSU’s tailgate is something to be revered across the country because of its food options. While the jambalaya and barbecue are utterly fantastic, Tiger fans whip up something else when the University of Florida comes to town: alligator. 4. University of Washington The Huskies have a different take on tailgating from almost every other university in the country. While most schools gather in parking lots,

There’s a slight buzz in the air as you walk through the parking lot. Your ears embrace the sounds of cheering and conversation. Smells of recipes that took years to perfect fill your nostrils as you navigate through a sea of tents and pickup trucks. Friends and family wait at your destination with a cold beverage. The crowds of people all sport the colors of the home team as you finally arrive at what you’ve waited for all week: game day. Tailgating is a college football tradition unlike any other. Schools across the country will claim to have the best, but few can back it up. Here are five universities that can talk the talk and walk the walk. 1. University of Michigan

Washington fans are out on the water. That’s right — this “tailgate” is known for the boats that pull into Union Bay right outside the stadium. 5. University of Mississippi On game day, the Grove at Ole Miss transforms from a serene 10-acre park with mature trees to a scene unlike any other. Tens of thousands of fans gather in their red, white, and blue to prepare for the Walk of Champions, where the entire team strolls through the tailgate on their way to the stadium. It’s 35 years of tradition that contributes something special to the scene.

Go blue! The tailgate in Ann Arbor is truly something to behold. “The Big House”parking lot opens at 7 a.m., and from then on, it’s all party, all the time. With one of college football’s biggest stadiums, it’s only natural that the tailgate follows suit. 2. University of Wisconsin Walleye, cheese curds, and brats are just the beginning at Camp Randall. Wisconsin has great tailgating at the stadium, but the local hotspots of the surrounding area are even better places to show your Badger pride. If you can’t get into the arena to jump around in the fourth quarter, you can still join the tradition anywhere in Madison where there’s red and white.

Roger Hicks has been in the car business for 34 years. Since those early days, Chevy dealers have been the dealers of choice for Roger. Today, he’s our commercial and fleet sales representative, but he’s seen a lot over these past 34 years. Before he joined Hare in May 2007, he was working with another Chevy dealership, which unfortunately had to close its doors. He’s been in commercial sales, was once a finance manager, and has even helped a dealer develop a commercial sales department from scratch.

Of course, after working in sales and with Chevy and GM vehicles for three decades, you really get to know what you sell. He knows his Silverado and Express vans inside and out. If you have a question about these vehicles, he’ll be able to give you an answer. At the moment, Roger drives an ’02 Buick Century. The car belonged to his late mother, and he hasn’t had the heart to give it up. But when it runs as well as it does, even after all these years, it adds even more to the sentiment. When Roger isn’t at work in the Hare Truck Center sales department, he spends time with his wife, Connie. He’ll tell you he’s an extremely happily married man and appreciates that Connie has always been there for him. With college football season ramping up, you can be sure Roger will be keeping up with Purdue. In terms of the NFL, Roger also keeps up with the Colts and the Cubs.

Truck of the Month The new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is knocking on our door. Everyone at the Truck Center has been anticipating the new truck since it was unveiled earlier in the spring. We know a lot of our customers are eagerly awaiting the truck too!

It’s bigger. It starts with a bigger wheelbase, which helps accommodate a bigger bed (7 more inches of floor space width over the 2018 model). There’s a bigger back seat in the four-door crew cab (3 more inches of legroom). There’s also more storage space in the back seat! THE ALL-NEW 2019 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500

If you haven’t read about the 2019 Silverado, here are a few details that have people excited. It’s more fuel-efficient. For the 2019 model year, Chevy is introducing Dynamic Fuel Management in the Silverado. This system directs cylinders to not fire in certain circumstances. As a result, it boosts fuel economy. In the new Silverado, it may be a boost of about 5 percent.

And with that bigger bed, Chevy decided to offer a power- operated tailgate option, meaning you can now open or close the tailgate with the push of a button — from the key fob or from in the cabin.

These details only begin to scratch the surface of the new 2019 Silverado. For more, check out Facebook. com/haretruckcenter, give us a call, or stop on by — we’d be happy to chat with you about this fantastic new truck!

On the diesel side of things, the turbo-diesel will have start/stop technology, which will also be a feature of the 6.2-liter V8. The truck is also being built using lighter materials. The hood, doors, and tailgate, for instance, are made of aluminum. When it comes to the V8 crew cab, the truck is now 450 pounds lighter than the 2018 model.
