VCI Rebels soccer in development mode
Pot busts during traffic stops OPP traffic patrol collected two drug possession cases during an Aug. 13 R.I.D.E. checkstop on John Street in Hawkesbury. Paul Auger, 28, of Valley East, ON, is charged with marijuana possession in an amount less than 30 grams after his Toyota was stopped for inspection. An hour later Stéphane Bertrand, 42, of The Nation Municipality was charged with a similar offence after his Ford Taurus was stopped at the checkpoint. she will have both a junior and a senior team to coach this season or a combined varsity squad. Last year’s excellent performance season for the VCI Rebels finished with a big cut to the team’s ranks and not because of injuries. “It’ll be a development year this year,” said Dagg. “We lost half of our (senior) team to graduation.” But the veteran high-school coach ex- pressed optimism about the potential crop of new recruits joining the returning half- dozen-or-more veterans from last year for the 2016-2017 season. “Very enthusiastic,” she said, “and excited to get the season going.”

It is going to be a learning session this sea- son for many of the players on this year’s VCI Rebels girls’ soccer squad. “We’ll definitely have a soccer team,” said Coach Sarah Dagg, following last Friday afternoon’s initial tryouts session.
