Après avoir éliminé les Kodiaks de l’École secondaire catholique régionale de Hawkes- bury (ESCRH) en quart de finale, avec un gain en prolongation, les Jaguars ont éliminé les Lynx, l’équipe hôtesse du tournoi, avec une autre victoire en prolongation, cette fois par la marque de 2 à 1. Lors de la finale, toutes les prières n’ont pas sauvé les Chevaliers du Père et ces der- niers ont été limités à deux buts, tandis que le Sommet a frappé fort avec cinq buts. Deux joueurs des Faucons, Joshua Pé- ladeau et Raphaël Brin, ont participé au tournoi. Pour Brin, il s’agit d’une belle vic- toire pour boucler la boucle, lui qui était de l’édition gagnante de 2014 et qui a suc- cédé à Pierre-Luc Viau comme capitaine de l’équipe pour ensuite se tailler une place dans l’équipe d’élite des Faucons.
Tout comme lors de l’édition 2014 du Tour- noi de hockey franco-ontarien, les Jaguars de l’École secondaire publique Le Sommet a battu l’École secondaire catholique Père- René-de-Galinée de Cambridge en grande finale de la division moyenne école A. Ce titre fait du bien aux Jaguars, qui avaient raté leurs débuts dans le AA l’an dernier. « Les jeunes étaient très déterminés et il y avait une belle chimie d’équipe, a indiqué le directeur adjoint de l’école, Daniel Lalonde, qui était derrière le banc de l’équipe lors du tournoi. Les gars ont aussi joué du hockey discipliné, avec seulement six punitions durant le tournoi, ce qui est important pour les points à ce tournoi. » Rappelons que le système de pointage du Franco donne des points à chacune des

The Rebels split their matches two wins against HammarskjoldHigh School from Thunder Bay and Mississauga’s St. Aloy- sius and two losses to Myer and Timis- kaming District Secondary to finish in third place out of five in their pool. Coach Tremblay credited a strong back end play strategy from the rink’s skip and third during the rounds. “When they’re on (their game), we are good,” he said. Next season, the Rebels will be looking at replacing Lavoie as the rink’s lead as she graduates this year. VCI fielded a mixed curling rink this season that also won the Prescott-Russell Secondary Schools Athletic Association title after beating Le Sommet in the finals. The VCI mixed rink finished EOSSAAwith one win and two losses. Filling out the ranks for mixed curling for VCI were skip Cameron Larocque and his mates, Gene- vieve Jones, Emilie Lovitt, Todd Zilhmann, Freddy Parisien, and Madeleine Fortin.
The Rebels from Vankleek Collegiate Institutemade their name known for the first time at the provincial high school girls curling championships. The rink of skip Cassandra Allen, se- cond Caitlyn Allen, thirdMeghan Courte- manche, and lead Tamra Lavoie, finished in the mid-range score totals out of 20 teams competing from across the pro- vince at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) varsity girls curling championship bonspiel in North Bay just before the March spring break. The four-member rink earned their place at OFSAA after clearing the ice of op- position five rounds straight earlier in the season at the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA). The EOSSAA title capped a six-straight winning streak in the Prescott-Russell regionals, giving VCI its second consecu- tive PR varsity girls curling title again at the end of an undefeated season. “Our best game was the last one against A.N. Myer,” said Coach Dan Tremblay,
