GALA RECOGNIZES KEY PLAYERS IN THE SPORTS DOME PROJECT

Over 200 people gathered at the Embrun Recreation Centre last Saturday, May 5, for a gala celebrating the official opening of the Russell Township Sports Dome. The recognition gala was held to celebrate the many volunteers who supported the sports dome project from the beginning, all those who did door-to-door fundraising, who attended the André-Philippe Gagnon Galas
Plus de 200 personnes se sont réunies au Centre récréatif d’Embrun samedi dernier, le 5 mai, pour un gala célébrant l’ouverture officielle du dôme sportif de Russell. Le gala a été organisé pour célébrer les nombreux bénévoles qui ont soutenu le projet du dôme sportif depuis le début. Ci-dessus, le maire de Russell, Pierre Leroux, remet un certificat de remerciements à Cindy Anthony, Doug Anthony et Marie-Claire Ivanski du Kin Club de Russell. —photo Caroline Prévost
Many plaques and certificates were presented to key members of the project. Jean Leduc, chief administrator for Russell Township, received a plaque in recognition of the role that the municipality played in the Sports Dome project. Plaques containing a piece of turf from the dome site were also presented to persons and groups which provided major donations to or played important roles in making the sports dome a reality. —photo Caroline Prévost
