I reached an abrupt halt. The brutal face of reality ripped through the wonder of improbability as particles of rain began to slit through the surrounding air like pummelling arrows. Looking at the pool, only faint remnants of life in the water remained, only ripples from where each goose had departed.The platter dropped to the ground,breaking glass into what seemed like a thousand fractions, but the impact was inaudible to me. My eyes searched hopelessly through the water, but with the beginnings of rain only my own fractured reflection glared back. Thinking that somewhere in the distance they would be floating midair with happiness, I felt nothing but a misguided tear stream its way down my cheek, joining the vale.
