I've been involved in facilitating START FROM SCRATCH CLASSES in Joburg, powered by Pioneer, where I've had the privilege of guiding aspiring DJs. Through mentorship and various programs, I strive to provide a template for those entering the music scene. Sound Press: How do you believe mentorship and support for young talents contribute to the growth of the music scene in South Africa? Fundi Mbambani: Mentorship offers guidance, a crucial factor in the often daunting music industry. Fundi Mbambani: Being connected with Bridges for Music and ARMC has expanded my horizons immensely. I've had unforgettable experiences, from playing at ADE and Afrika Burn to successfully facilitating START FROM SCRATCH classes. These experiences have connected me with incredible individuals and provided a platform to inspire and be inspired.

Sound Press: Mentorship helps others overcome challenges. How do you approach mentoring aspiring DJs and musicians in overcoming hurdles? Fundi Mbambani: I approach mentoring with empathy and understanding. I share my own journey, including the obstacles I've faced. By highlighting that challenges are part of growth, I encourage aspiring DJs to stay resilient, surround themselves with support, and learn from every experience. Sound Press: Balancing your DJ career, personal life, and dedication to supporting others can be demanding. How do you manage this delicate balance? Fundi Mbambani: Balance is a continuous effort. I prioritize mindfulness, meditating daily, and practicing self- awareness. Journaling and mental breaks are essential. I cherish my family time on Sundays, and my accessible nature on Instagram fosters communication with Cape Town creatives. Sound Press: Established artists giving back is crucial. How do you view the role of established artists in inspiring the next generation of musicians? Fundi Mbambani: Established artists play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation.
