FIRE STATION TURNS UP THE HEAT with HDL 30-A PA

A t the heart of Sunderland's cultural revival stands The Fire Station, a mid-scale performance venue that is continually pushing boundaries. Its recent expansion introduces the outdoor Parade Ground within its arts and culture complex, a move that showcases RCF's HDL line array platform. The main highlight is the relocation of the ultra-compact HDL 26-A active line array from the main auditorium to the outdoor space alongside the HDL 30-A PA, enhancing the venue's capacity to deliver powerful audio to a 600-cap audience. This dynamic setup infuses an outdoor festival vibe into performances. Sunderland's cultural resurgence, sparked by the creation of Sunderland Culture, has turned the city into a hub of artistic activity. This consortium, comprising the University of Sunderland, Sunderland City Council, and Sunderland Music Arts and Culture (MAC) Trust, has spearheaded transformative projects like The Fire Station.

Over the past year and a half, The Fire Station has become a focal point of entertainment, enriching the city's cultural scene. The new auditorium, a brainchild of Flanagan Lawrence, is seamlessly integrated into The Fire Station's complex. Technical consultants Clair Willis and Chris Durant, previously associated with Sage Gateshead and now Northern Stage, were instrumental in conceptualizing the space. Drawing on their familiarity with RCF's HDL line array solution, they crafted a vision that was brought to life by Adlib, led by project manager Paul Holt. Willis and Durant's vision prioritized adaptability across diverse programming needs, making RCF's products an ideal choice. The relocation of the HDL 26-A ultra- compact line array alongside the HDL 30-A PA has resulted in a sound configuration that caters to different scenarios, offering flexible deployment while maintaining exceptional audio quality.
