Laurence Claus Laurence Claus is President of NNi Training and Consulting Inc., provides training and consulting services to the fastener and automotive supply industry. Prior to forming NNi, he was Vice President of Engineering for a Midwest automotive fastener manufacturer. Laurence has worked in the fastener industry since 1988. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and is also a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Laurence is Chairman of the SAE Fastener Committee; Subcommittee Chairman of ASME B18.6 and ASTM F16.91; a member of ASME B18, ASTM F16, and ISO TC 2. He is the Director of Training with IFI and the author of numerous fastener journal articles and technical papers. Norina Columbaro Norina L. Columbaro worked as a Talent Development Leader since 2003 with a variety of public and private organizations. She is an award-winning designer and powerful deliverer of curriculum for learning and development programs that build organizational competencies, optimize human performance, and increase competitive edge. Norina has successfully taught this and similar scientific and technical communication workshops since the early 2000s to engineers and technical personnel in a variety of manufacturing, energy, scientific research, automotive, commercial vehicle, and academic organizations. Norina was employed by Key Bank prior to launching her own consulting practice in 1999. She has held consulting and leadership positions at Cuyahoga Community College, Lorain County Community College, and ASM International. Under her leadership, ASM International was awarded IACET accreditation for continuing education programs in 2014. She has recently been published in Adult Learning, The International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and on Military.com. She completed her Ph.D. in Urban Education, Leadership and Life-Long Learning at Cleveland State University. Jeff Colwell Dr. Jeff Colwell is Principal Engineer at Colwell Consulting LLC where he specializes in the engineering analysis of thermal and combustion processes, particularly the cause, origin and propagation of fires and explosions. Prior to starting his own consulting company, Dr. Cowell was the Principal Engineer in Exponent’s Thermal Science practice where he specialized in the engineering analysis of thermal and combustion processes, especially the cause, origin, and propagation of fires and explosions. Dr. Colwell has particular expertise investigating fires associated with automobiles, recreation vehicles, motor- cycles, and heavy trucks, where typical fire scenarios include post-collision fires, structure fires involving vehicles, and fires
authored publications on the subject of HVEDRs. He received his Masters of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida and is a Registered Professional Engineer in multiple states. Bruce Chehroudi Dr. Chehroudi is a Professor and Department Head at the Arkansas Tech University. His previous positions include: Chief Scientist and Group Leader at Advanced Technology Consultants, Principal Scientist at Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/ ERC), Chief Scientist at Raytheon STX (formerly Hughes Aircraft STX), Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Research Staff Member at Princeton University. He specializes in fluid mechanics and heat transfer, laser optical diagnostics, internal combustion engine, gas turbine and rocket engines, structure of sprays, gas turbine engines, combustion, fuel injection issues and emission of pollutants. Dr. Chehroudi is an AIAA Associate Fellow, a member of Ta Beta Pi and the recipient of several SAE awards including the Arch T. Colwell Merit Award, the Ralph R. Teetor Award, the SAE Recognition Award and the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award in recognition of his efforts and leadership in contributions to the Continuing Professional Development Seminars. He has taught courses in the areas of internal combustion engines, thermodynamics, thermophysics of gas flows, combustion, and measurement system, and has more than 150 publications and over 200 presentations in conferences, national and international journals. Dr. Chehroudi has a Ph.D. from Princeton University. Joseph Chen Mr. Joseph Chen is currently an independent automotive drive train consultant. Since 1978, Mr. Chen has worked in various drive train industries and specializes in manual and automatic drive train system design, development, and testing. Previously, Mr. Chen served as Chief Engineer in the Electric Drive Unit (EDU) at Shanghai Automobile Inc., China (SAIC) where he was involved with developing various hybrid and e-drive transmissions. Mr. Chen also served twenty years at General Motors where he advanced to Senior Project Engineer for GM Powertrain, USA. Mr. Chen’s experience also includes engineering roles at Clark Equipment, Western Gear Technology and Cleveland Gridley Machinery Company. An active member of SAE, ASME, and AGMA, Mr. Chen has been a frequent presenter of technical papers at various international conferences and seminars and has been granted more than a dozen patents related to drive train applications. A registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Ohio and California, USA, Mr. Chen received his B.S. Mechanical Engineering from the Tatung University in Taiwan, a M.S. Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University, and a MBA from Indiana University.
