AMA advocates for mining industry at Department of Energy roundtable

A MA participated in a roundtable discussion with Kyle Haustveit, Undersecretary for the U.S. Department of Energy, in late July in Anchorage. Haustveit and his team also vis- ited the North Slope and Kodiak island to discuss the issues sur- rounding Alaska’s energy needs and what stands in the way of reliable, affordable energy for Alaskans and for the economic industries in our state. Members of the media were present to hear from participants discussing coal, oil and gas, nuclear and hydroelectric energy sources. DOE members shared their experiences around the world of connecting citizens that have access to energy are the ones who can prosper, and how in Washington they frequently discuss Alaska’s potential.
