Dear Friends & Patriots,
It is incredible to look back and realize that it’s been now more than two decades since the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Our world was transformed the instant the first plane hit the north tower, and the consequences still reverberate twenty years later.
Millions of American troops served in Afghanistan, Iraq and dozens of oth- er countries during the Global War on Terror. They sacrificed life, limb and spirit during a grinding and ambiguous fight. But they accomplished their mission – no terrorist has since struck our homeland. But the personal toll of their service was tremendous. Even in the last days of our presence in Afghanistan we saw why our mission at Children of Fallen Patriots remains so vital – Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum died for his country 18 days before his daughter Levi was born. Thanks to your patriotism and love of our military and their families, Levi will one day re- ceive the college education her father would have wanted for her. You are a key part of mak- ing her dreams come true and for that I am sure her father is profoundly thankful. The parallelism with our founding is also striking. 32 years ago, Sergeant Delaney Gibbs was killed in combat in Panama three months before his daughter was born. She is the reason Children of Fallen Patriots came to be and the reason that Levi will one day attain her college dreams. We pray that 30 years from now that cycle of hope will continue to lift up the chil- dren left behind by the inevitable cost of maintaining liberty. Each and every one of you who have joined our cause is a patriot serving our great nation. You have joined the tradition of service that animates the members of our armed forces. You are ensuring that Rylee and our other fallen heroes will always be honored by their fellow Americans. Cynthia and I are moved beyond words by your friendship and support!
