11 At the national level, NSBE is unorganized • “I just think it can be more organized and respond to the vital virus a little better.” • “As much as I love the mission, the org send to be disorganized at times and disjointed. Communications are sporadic.” • “I think NSBE has a lot of potential and offers it’s members opportunities that can be difficult to come across. However, there are still a lot of disorganization that needs to be fixed.” • “Though I am an engineer by degree, I only recently joined in order to provide access to the various programs to my 6-year old daughter. The programs are fantastic and she really enjoys them. My only feedback is that I would like them to be a bit more organized at times.” • “NSBE is a great networking community and provides opportunity to grow in your professional career. However, it can be very disorganized and I would not want to invite someone else to the chaos. For example, how are we a society of engineers with a website that is always broken. We have made several improvements over the past year but we are not to the point where I can answer this question with a rate of 10. More improvements are needed.”

28 Ability to improve personal and professional leadership skills • “My involvement with NSBE has given me exposure to many avenues to expand my leadership skills, be involved in my community, and enhance myself professionally. I’m a believer in “you get out what you put in”, so involvement is key.” • “NSBE has made my college experience as amazing as it has been. They were my first friends grown family, my study buddies, my support system, my advisor and mentor, and my professional connoisseur. The mission of NSBE is something I live by and strive to achieve every day. I appreciate the professionalism, leadership, and open mindedness that NSBE has taught me and I hope everyone can have that same experience.” • “I would recommend NSBE because of the familial feeling each member gets. You can always find someone who truly understands your situation as a black engineer and opportunities to take your leadership to a whole new level. Because of NSBE I have been able to expand my understanding and application of strategic planning processes and parliamentarian procedures.”

11 At the national level, NSBE is unorganized • “The chapters so far appear to be unorganized.” • “NSBE in terms of networking is amazing. However many aspects of the organization such as conferences, conventions, chapter recognition etc. do not always represent/ fully fulfill the mission of NSBE. I feel that as you look higher in the organization on the regional and national level there seems to be a disconnect or convolution in communication and support.” • “I’ve been a professional member for the past 3 years or so and have yet to consistently receive relevant information from “Local Region II” representatives. I’m highly interested in participating in community based activities however, have no information regarding monthly, quarterly or annual chapter meetings has been received. I received one update from the previous President (Ernest) however, no one has contacted me since. Therefore, at this time, I am uncomfortable recommending any of my colleagues to join.”
