19 Provides a wealth of opportunities
• From my own experiences along with the services that I know NSBE offers, I am completely confident that involvement in NSBE would be a benefit to anyone within the engineering realm. • My son has been exposed to professionals, activities, and an environment that I would not have been able to provide without NSBE • I love NSBE. it has opened up so many doors for me and my family (NSBE chapter) that it would be selfish of me not to recommend something like NSBE to my fellow stem major colleagues and friends. • “I love NSBE. It has been the foundation on which I have shaped my college experience. I have found my closest friends and study partners here and have chosen to develop myself charismatically in this organization. I have secured a co-op with one of the largest energy distribution companies in the country, and I have been looking forward to working in energy since I was in 8th grade. NSBE has made these dreams a reality, and I am so thankful. • The NSBE chapter at my school, Valparaiso University, is small and started 4 years. We have struggled to maintain a consistent vision to execute goals as to what we want our organization to grow into. I believe the essence is that we have not developed leaders, maintained a strong sense of engineering community in addition to striving towards a vision in line with the NSBE’s mission statement. My chapter is not strong, or rather, consistent, so I feel reluctant to ask people to join. I usually feel better talking about all the professional opportunities available through NSBE as well as all the vibrant and purposeful people and discussions. This has been consistent in all aspects of NSBE, in my experience, and helps me love the organization more.
• My main complaint with the national organization is that Valparaiso University has never been on the attendance list even though we have attended Annual Convention for 4 years and Regional Conference once. However, I do appreciate that Valparaiso University is a recognized chapter and is on the website.” • I have not been as active as I desire, but NSBE provides a great deal of benefits to others, our community, and the profession and I believe we all are responsible for continued success and growth. • NSBE is an easy to access outlet for minority STEM students. It has provided me with opportunities to learn and grow. • I’ve been provided with many resources and opportunities that I probably wouldn’t had came in contact with had it not been for NSBE. • I think being in NSBE gives us great opportunities and I would want to give that chance to other people • It is an amazing organization that represents black student future engineers. It is so helpful when it comes to job opportunities, leadership roles, internship opportunities, and more. • NSBE offers a great deal of opportunities for minority students in the STEM field.
