6 Assistance with Career Advancement
• “I don’t believe that the organization is truly fulfilling its promise or potential specifically because it has lost its direction. Because of that, I’m hesitant to recommend membership for anything beyond the career fair opportunities available. We have given up on leadership development, but in my opinion I think that is our most impactful core competency. • I still have hope, though, and that’s why I can’t give a response that falls below 6. If I were to rate our current status in a bubble, though, it might be a 3.” • Great for networking and job searching.
• It’s a nice network of like-minded individuals to have. Students in local NSBE chapters provide direct support for homework and give recommendations on internship experiences. NSBE on a national level is also a network that can be very beneficial to one’s future career. • For students it’s a great networking organization and the career fairs are awesome. • Depending on what my black engineering friend/colleague needs, I would recommend them to nsbe if they were looking for an avenue for leadership or networking/job opportunities at conventions
