to tie the match, before missing the deciding set. The hockey team had a determined attitude and fought valiantly in their close semi-final loss, with James Drury scoring a great goal. Our junior debating team of Jack Belcher, Nathan Cranstone, Duncan Fletcher, William Law and Jasper Moss easily took the final, without losing a single debate. The junior cricket team also won their competition. In a balanced team effort – with runs from Jack Brent, Ash Cassidy, Jack Coles, Ciaran Huntley and Alex Stead, everyone adding to the bowling, and some great fielding on the boundary from Jacob Clements and Joe Pfahlert – the boys achieved the disciplined fielding required to keep Harper House from reaching the 62 runs they needed. Interhouse Results Athletics – 2nd overall, 1st relays, 7th non-championship Swimming – 3rd overall, 3rd medley cup Cross country – 4th Top 5, 7th overall House Plays – audience award House Music – 4th small group, 3rd

I would like to thank our parent community for the support they give to Somes House and their sons – by working together, they will become great young men. Finally, thanks to Fin Smith, Jordy Annand and the Year 13 students for their outstanding efforts in 2019. It has been a busy and successful year, which they can look back on with a great deal of pride.
