National Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships Wellington, 6–8 December 2019 Despite windy, wet conditions and an impressive thunder and lightning storm, the College team of 18 athletes had a successful weekend at the Newtown Athletics Track in Wellington. The boys represented the school well and overall there was a positive and supportive atmosphere at the meet. With Graeme in Borneo, Briar Wait and Matt Thatcher accompanied and organised the team, but there was a noticeable absence of Graeme’s distinctive hat and instructions being communicated from the sideline near the 200m mark! Given the adverse conditions, the team can be proud of their results. Unfortunately, the road race was cancelled at the last minute, which meant Art Aitken, James Lange and Sam Idiens were unable to compete in this event. Congratulations to medal winners Jordy Annand, Alfie Baker, Edward Hsing, Charlie Cameron, Sam Idiens and Jasper Moss. One of the key things that made this a great trip was the involvement of the Year 13 athletes, competing

in their last school athletics championship. Jordy Annand,

Edward Hsing, Matthew Todd, Oliver Beresford, Christopher Ireland, Ryan Oorschot and Nate Wain will be missed and we wish them all the best

in their future endeavours. The management team were

appreciative of the help the boys, parents and coaches gave over the weekend. Thank you for all your support.
