5. How do you stay up-to- date with the latest music trends and incorporate them into your sets? Really there is nothing else to it other than being aware. Following the right playlists on Spotify and keeping an eye on the Beatport charts are also great. TikTok is of course an important tool as well. As a DJ, if you can get the content delivered to your feed which is relevant to dance music and the subgenres you are interested in it can be a great way to pick up which tracks are gaining momentum. How do you keep the energy level high and the crowd engaged during your performances? 6. I set up hot cues on every track I play out so I can jump to different sections of it if I see the crowd energy dip. It works like a push and pull though, there needs to be contrast. Playing a few high energy records with drums and percussion that runs through pretty much the whole time works great to keep the crowd moving, but too much of that without any relief is fatiguing. Moving to a few groovier records with some chunk but less energy for a little while will make the move back to higher energy records even more impactful.
