FY21 Naming Decisions and Recommendations. In FY21, President Wohlpart has authorized the Benefactor naming of three minor facilities: 1. “Dr. M. Meghan Miller Conference Room” is the approved name of Discovery Hall Conference Room #321 ($100,000). Dr. Miller served as Geology professor, Geology Department Chair, and Dean of the College of the Sciences. As well, she established an endowment, the Miller Award, to fund strategic initiatives to advance student research. The naming duration is in perpetuity. 2. “Darrell and Susan Posch Sports Medicine Suite” is the approved name of the sports medicine/athletic training room in Nicholson Pavilion ($50,000). The gift of Darrell and Susan Posch supports for CWU students and programs with an additional $200,000 for Nicholson Pavilion renovation. His contribution includes 35+ years teaching and military service. The naming duration is in perpetuity. 3. “Sheila Hyatt Athletic Administration Suite” is the approved name for the Athletics Administrative offices in the Dorothy Purser Hall ($50,000). The gift of Jean and Joe Adams gifted will help renovate the Nicholson Pavilion in support of student athletes. Ms. Adams is a former Foundation Board member and served as Chair of Wildcat Athletic Association Board. Mr. Adams is currently a board member. Each received Distinguished Alumni Award for College of Business, and Distinguished Alumni Awards for Philanthropist of the Year. The naming duration is in perpetuity. FY21 also included two major benefactor facility recommendations , which require final approval of the Board of Trustees: 1. “Jean and Joe Adams Atrium” is the proposed name for the main atrium/lobby in Nicholson Pavilion, slated for renovation over the next two years. Jean and Joe Adams gifted $250,000 to help renovate the facility in support of student athletes. The naming duration is in perpetuity. 2. “CWU Athletics Hall of Fame in honor of Dave Heaverlo” is the proposed name for the Hall of Fame in the Nicholson Pavilion. Jeff Hensler and Weslie Moore gifted $50,000 to support student athletics and the Nicholson Pavilion renovation. This gift will name the renovation of the Hall of Fame area to recognize Dave Heaverlo’s contribution to CWU programs. Mr. Heaverlo was a former Wildcat Athletic Association Board Member, pro-baseball player, and a two-time CWU Athletic Hall of Fame recipient. The naming duration is in perpetuity. Last, FY21 included the addition of one working name: Health Education , which also was the name of the legislative request that funded construction, was established as the working name for the Nicholson Pavilion renovation. Capital Update As we move into the 2021-2023 biennium, CWU has completed several major milestones associated with major capital projects: • An update of University House , which included upgrades to residential areas, guest reception areas, and infrastructure in this university facility. • Completion of the design of Health Education , which moves now to the construction phase.
